Plush Tiny Houses
I am loving these sweet houses by Collected by Taska. They look really rad and double as a cozy floor pillow. Easily DIY-able right? Mmmmm, that gets me thinking...

How-To: Plush Penguin From The Purl Bee
Penguins are pretty darn irresistible with their cute little waddle and lovable body shapes. The latest project from Molly's Sketchbook on The Purl Bee takes the best parts of a penguin and translates them in to a sweet plush toy that stands nine inches tall. I imagine these could be quite addictive to make. Couldn't you see having a whole cluster of them to play with? Get the full pattern and tutorial over on The Purl Bee.
How-To: Stuffed Hobbes Doll
This project from Instructables user, seamster, makes me giddy. I'm pretty sure I've read every single Calvin and Hobbes strip a million times. I took my parenting queues from the dad and secretly wished my kids would be just like Calvin. Hobbes was my hero. There is just so much to love about these characters. Seamster captures the stuffed version of Hobbes so perfectly in this project. The ears and the simple face just slay me. He even sanded down regular round buttons to get the perfect shape for the eyes. It doesn't look like a beginner project, but boy does it look worth the effort.

Christmas Twin Puppet
I tell ya, my fiance keeps raising the crafty bar around here. On top of my awesome craft table and craft fair proposal, I now have my very own puppet. Earlier this year I had a logo made by Michigan crafter Jason Gibner and my fiance's first reaction was, "Whoa! That reminds me of a Muppet!" Well, sure enough, he made me into a puppet for Christmas. Take a look at some of the pictures he captured while working on my Christmas present.

How-To: Pocket Bot Dolls
I love these adorable pocket bot dolls from Jodie of Ric Rac. Their little pockets are the perfect place to stash a secret message or extra surprise, and I love that she's used a handbag foot as the antennae on each bot. Get the pattern and how-to over on Ric Rac.

Crafters at New York Comic Con 2011
Below is a Comic Con dispatch from MAKE friend and film editor David Shuff.
The 2011 New York Comic Con was this past weekend at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in NYC, and every East Coast nerd worth their pocket protector was there. While superheroes, video games, toys, and all things anime were in abundance on the show floor, a few stalwart crafters were sprinkled in the mix, proudly displaying their handmade creations.
With each new creature, Daniela lets her scissors lead the way through the vinyl and sees what emerges, at which point she grabs the paint markers to fill in the rest; finishing off with several coats of lacquer. She was both thrilled and intimidated to be in the same area as Tara McPherson(!)--one of her favorite artists.

Grab the pattern for these cute mini Halloween plush ornaments from Paper-and-String and whip up several this weekend. I think it might be cute to enlarge the patterns and use them as treat bags for trick or treating, too!

Stuffed Deep Sea Lobster Pattern
Kristen McQuillin made a plush kiwa hirsuta lobster, and a pattern so you can, too.
Inspired by the recently reported kiwa hirsuta lobster, I designed a plush toy. Although she's not anatomically correct in every detail (PDF), I think she is an identifiable member of this new species.
For anyone interested in sewing one of their own, I've developed a pattern with instructions and released it under a Creative Commons license. I don't recommend this project for people averse to hand-sewing or turning things inside out--there's plenty of both involved. But it's all simple sewing and assembly if you understand the basics of seaming and stuffing.

Stuffed Misfit: Toys, Inside Out (video)
Stuffed Misfits by Anthony Bielecki are stuffed animals that have been rescued by thrift stores, turned inside out, further modified, and restuffed into creatures with new personalities. These critters were sewn together and shown at Maker Faire Bay Area 2011.
