Beautiful Hyperboloid Made of Skewers

George Hart continues to rock Math Mondays on MAKE, up this week is the skewer hyperboloid!
Thirty two shish kabob skewers and 176 small rubber bands are all it takes to make a beautiful hyperbolid of revolution. This is an example of what is called a "ruled surface," meaning even though it is curved, it is made of straight lines.

Tree Branch Magnetic Hooks

These tree branch hooks by maker and artist Ronnie McCullough are the perfect addition for my magnetic organizer. The lichen growing from the bark is such a great texture to juxtapose against the galvanized metal. And their delicate woodland aesthetic belies the strength of the rare earth magnet embedded in the back.

Keep Calm and Carry Yarn
Earlier this week, our friends over at BoingBoing pointed to this new variant of the Keep Calm and Carry On meme. It's a no-brainer for the newly organized crafty space of you knitters, crocheters, and other yarn lovers.
The BB post caused the item to quickly sell out, but there's a poster now available in navy. And luckily, JennieGee, who's selling her hand-pulled screen prints on Etsy, promises to have a bunch of new colors printed over the weekend. Enjoy!
