Once again, Atlanta will have a monthly infusion of indie craft!
If you've been missing Young Blood Gallery & Boutique's monthly indie art and craft market, it's back with a bang! Young Blood has teamed up with the Indie Craft Experience to bring you this fabulous event. From now on, ICE & Young Blood will be previewing artists' work to make sure there is a great balance of items to shop for, which will be a win/win for both vendors and shoppers. There will be a $20 application fee which will allow us to promote the event. There will be 15 vendors each month and each vendor will have a 4' x 6' space.

The market will continue to be held on the first Thursday of each month from 7-10 p.m. The first Kraftwork in Young Blood's new space will take place on Thursday, September 4th. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 27.

Interested in being a vendor? Go to the Indie Craft Experience website for detailed instructions on how to apply.

Last night BurdaStyle launched their new How To series at the fabulous Mood fabric store in Manhattan. If you don't know Mood already, it is the store where Project Runway contestants get their fabric for challenges. First, we got some information about how to select fabric for projects and then Mood owner Eric Sauma gave us a tour of the store. Benedikta from BurdaStyle was wearing the amazing Kasia skirt and now I can't wait to go back to Mood and buy the fabric to make it myself. The whole event was streamed live by Etsy Virtual Labs. See all my photos from the event.

We had a great time last Tuesday at the Stitch N' Pitch game with the SF Giants. Tina, Arwen, and I worked the CRAFT table before the game getting a chance to talk to all you fabulous crafters. During the 5th inning, SF Giants' mascot Lou Seal was joined by his mom (pictured above) who showed off knitting our CRAFT: 07 cover sneakers! You can see the rest of the photos from the event in my Flickr set.

There are more Stitch N' Pitch games happening throughout the U.S. this Summer. To check out the full schedule, visit the Stitch N' Pitch web site.

Fashioning Technology author Syuzi Pakhchyan will be holding a demonstration and having a book signing at Craft Gym (1452 Bush Street) in San Francisco on Saturday, July 19 from 5pm - 7pm. Come by to meet Syuzi and watch her demonstration, enjoy a drink and nibble on treats!

Here's more about the event:

Fashioning Technology: Come Witness the Future of Crafting!

What will our homes and clothes look like 5 years from now? 10 years? 50 years? If the new book Fashioning Technology (O'Reilly) is any indication, it will involve a healthy dose of "smart" crafting--a term coined by author Syuzi Pakhchyan--to describe crafting with "smart" materials that react and change in response to their environment. In this exciting new book, readers can learn how to make: LED bracelets, chandeliers and headphones; pattern-changing blinds; a space invaders tote bag that alerts you to incoming phone calls; a "birdie" brooch that "chirps" to sunlight; and much, much more!

Visit the book site, fashioningtechnology.com and join in on the new smart crafting community where you can post up your own projects, keep up to date with book events, projects, watch videos, and more!
