Wedding Dress From Vintage Embroidered Table Cloths
My jaw dropped when I saw this stunning handmade wedding dress from a bride named Frances. She created the top portion of the dress using vintage embroidered table cloths. The colorful stitchery and delicate draping is divine.
I chose to design my own dress because I had originally wanted a vintage dress, but found that the nicest ones were out of my price range. I have always loved colourful things, so I wanted to include some colour in the dress.

How-To: Use Sewable LED Sequins
Becky Stern has a cool new video tutorial up over on Adafruit, using nifty sewable LED sequins, which lay flat on your project surface.
If you don't want components sticking up from the surface of your project, and you don't mind using a soldering iron, you might try making these: LED sequins.

Evelin Kasikov's Stitched Portraits
Evelin Kasikov's embroidery work has been featured on CRAFT before because her projects were so incredible, and her new work, called The Portrait Project, is no exception.
The Portrait Project is a set of 10 stitched portraits, all based on the same grid. Images are created by using different stitching methods and thread thicknesses. The grid consists of squares, crosses and diagonal lines. Each image is created by using some or all of the layers.

CMYK Embroidery
I would never have the patience (or tools) to recreate this, but I love this embroidered CMYK poster from Custhom. It's currently sold out, but looks like they will be making more! (Via Swiss Miss).

Downloadable Mama And Baby Sloth Embroidery Pattern
The cute is almost too much to handle. Mollie of Wild Olive has a couple of sweet mama and baby embroidery patterns that are simple enough to easily get stitched by Mother's Day. These sloths slay me, and her alpaca pair are adorable.

Embroidery Tips for Tricky Fabrics
Dying to stitch on nylon, spandex, or even faux fur? Before you get started, check out these tips for embroidering on 5 types of tricky fabric—including organza, nylon, spandex, silk, and faux fur—that the folks from Embroidery Library shared on Stitch Punk!
Once a beginner has moved past the phase of embroidering each and every tea towel they come across, it might then seem time to experiment on different fabrics. Most fabrics will handle all kinds of embroidery with ease, but certain tricky fabrics have been known to cause all kinds of headaches for stitchers.Does that mean you avoid them all together? No! You just need to know a few tips on how to deal with these tricky types, and the results are totally worth it for all the different effects these fabrics can bring to your projects.
The tips in this post are specifically geared towards machine embroiderers, but the prep methods are solid, and will definitely help hand stitchers get the most out of their specialty fabrics too.

More of Holly Levell's Snack Bag Soft Sculptures
I already posted Holly Levell's Monster Munch project last month but, after seeing how prolific she's been recently, I decided that one piece didn't do her work justice. Here's several of her recent soft sculptures of snack bags (and she's made even more since this picture was taken)!

Embroidered New York Times Logo
Artist Jacob Magraw created a stunningly beautiful and intricate embroidered version of the famous "T" logo of the New York Times.
My aunt Linnea does beautiful quilt squares, as does my wife Rachell. The layers of intention that can gather in such a slow process appeal to me.
I'm in awe! I wish I could get a poster-sized print of it to hang in my studio. Thanks, Kat!

Random Words From the Dictionary, Cross-Stitched
Lauren Steeper (Sheffield, UK) has a cross-stitch game, Lottery Words, and I want to play! It is just the sort of highly ordered and yet completely unnecessary ritual that I love. And it combines crafting and words? So awesome!
To start, she cut every word out of the dictionary and threw them in a jar. That's right. Every word.
Each week, she:
- Picks 49 words out of the jar at random
- Uses the numbers drawn by the National Lottery to select 6 of the 49 words
- Determines color and font based on the bonus ball
- Cross-stitches the words as her system dictates
