Bob Dobbs Filet Crochet

From the CRAFT Flickr pool: user Crochet Sera Sera made this crochet piece depicting J. R. "Bob" Dobbs, figurehead of the Church of the SubGenius. Filet Crochet is a type of crochet fabric using only two types of stitches, resulting in a grid-like pattern, lending itself well to embedded patterns.

Lion Brand - Sampler Afghan Crochet-Along
The Sampler Afghan Crochet-Along has just started at Lion Brand with crochet queen Cecily Keim at the helm.
Cecily writes:
For some, it's the task of completing an entire blanket. Myself included! I often stick with smaller projects simply to better guarantee the chances I'll finish. So I'm starting this CAL off with the vow that I will complete one Sampler Blanket by the end of our time together. Eep! You'll have to help me stick to my promise! Luckily the pattern works up in simple blocks that can be taken in small steps and before we know it we have an entire blanket. And just in time for crisp fall nights!

Longest Crocheted Scarf in the World?
Folks from Denver's craft shop Fancy Tiger spent every Friday in June teaching people to crochet at the Denver Art Museum. The end result? The longest crocheted scarf in the world! I don't think they've had the folks from the Guinness Book of World Records substantiate this claim or anything, but 115 feet is pretty darn impressive!

Crochet Headphone Covers

I have a pair of Grado headphones with rapidly degrading foam earpieces. Sometimes this part wears out far before the headphones, making them uncomfortable to wear. Flickr user ofenjen made little crochet covers for hers using embroidery floss and a tiny crochet hook. Crafty and functional! Spotted in the CRAFT Flickr pool.
