Ripple Along
OK, anyone else find themselves enticed by the recent sightings in the craft blog world of beautifully crocheted ripple blankets? For me, it started with Alicia's blanket, who in turn was inspired by Jane's Yarnstorm ripple. Now crochet gal Kim Werker of Crochet Me has started a Ripple Along. I can't stop staring at all the fun yarn and the cool ripple patterns. Read the backstory and keep up with the process, or join in on the fun! Link.

Hyperbolic Crocheted Reef preview - Institute for Figuring, Los Angeles

Crochet Coral and Anemone Garden with sea slug
LA's Institute for Figuring will be offering a sneak preview on Tuesday of their crocheted Coral Reef (which we posted about here), soon to be exhibited at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
Following the return of the "Kelp Garden" sub-section from the "Confini" show at the MAN Museum in Sardinia, three new sub-sections of the reef will be traveling to Pittsburg to the Andy Warhol Museum, as part of the forthcoming exhibition "Six Billion Perps Held Hostage: Artists Reflect on Global Warming." (We get to share the space with Andy's disaster paintings.) On Tuesday February 20 (the eve of departure) the reef will be at home for viewing from 6-9pm. We invite you all to see this woolly celebration of marine wonders and to ponder the horror of the rubbish vortex that is growing in its wake. This is a sneak preview and a taste of what we'll be showing at LACE next year.
Place: IFF Home Base
5015 Almaden Drive, Highland Park, CA 90042. (Just North of York, just West of Ave 51)
Time: 6-9pm
Enticements: Tea and cookies.
