Project: Crocheted Mobius Cowl
By Amy O'Neill Houck
Photography by Stacy La Mascus
A Mobïus wrap is a unique garment with no inside or outside, and only one side and one edge. What does this mean? Well, if you were to take a finger and trace it along the side of the finished cowl, you'd see that your finger would cover both "sides" of the cowl without ever lifting your finger. The "Mobïus strip" falls under the amazing math category.
This cowl grows quickly out from the center, allowing for fun color play with stripes. The cowl can be worn over the shoulders, pulled up over the head, or even doubled as a neck-warmer. The twist gives it an appealing shape that hugs the body. I learned the concept of the Mobïus as a knitted garment from Mobïus pioneer, Cat Bordhi, and I was pleased to discover the concept translates so nicely to crochet.
Finished Measurement: Cowl Circumference: 36"; Height 8"

Hello Crafters!
It's time to introduce a new chapter of CRAFT. I've had a wonderful time being the editor of CRAFT - it's been such a thrill working every day with amazing crafters who consistently bring fresh awe-inspiring ways of creating to the world of crafting. However, I'm now going to finish a book project I started 2 years ago, so today is my last day at CRAFT. It's been the utmost pleasure connecting with all of you in the craft community.
Incredible Moon Embroidery by Rachel Hobson
The exciting news is that CRAFT writer Rachel Hobson will be taking over, starting today! Anyone who has followed CRAFT should know Rachel, who has blogged thousands of posts for us over the last 3 ½ years. If there were one image from our archives that could best exemplify Rachel, the above embroidered moon would be in the top 5, since it shows both her astonishing talent as a crafter as well as her love of space and science. Without further ado, I'll let Rachel take it from here...
Thanks so much, Carla! The CRAFT team has been lucky to have you, and it's been a true pleasure working with you! I'm honored to be taking the helm here at CRAFT. I've been a CRAFT devotee for years, and still vividly remember that excited feeling I had the first time one of my Average Jane Crafter projects was featured here on the blog. Joining the CRAFT team almost four years ago was a thrill, and I relish the opportunity to showcase the work of so many great indie crafters and to be part of such a vibrant and dynamic community.

I learn something new every day, and adore the folks I meet online and in person. I'm passionate about the ways in which people can connect through the crafting process. I'm excited to be heading up such an awesome team of writers, artists and video gurus. Truly, the CRAFT team is top notch, covering all craft genres, skill levels, and subject matter.
I spend way too much time reading hundreds of craft blogs, digging in to various social media and adding ideas to my "Must Try" craft list. In my spare time, I'm a tap dancing, hand embroidery-obsessed space geek with two kids, a husband, a cat and a one-eyed dog, fixing up our atomic ranch home in suburban Houston, Texas.
Looking forward to many more CRAFT adventures,
Rachel

Project: Crochet Conversation Heart Garland
By Emilee Gettle
Growing up, I loved class Valentine's Day parties, complete with decorated shoeboxes and handmade Valentines. I often stocked up on Conversation Hearts, ensuring that my supply would last me until Easter. I had great fun laying them one by one on the table and making up my own sentimental sentences. Next, I'd lick away to see just how many licks it took to wipe away the quirky messages stamped on each pastel heart.
So this crocheted Conversation Heart Garland is for all those hopeless romantics who are charmed by old fashioned simplicity and who, like me, can't resist this confection and the lovey-dovey messages behind the cellophane heart window.

So if you have a relationship that needs mending, seize the opportunity this Valentine's Day by sending this fun & simple Love Transfusion valentine!

By Lish Dorset
Raise your hand if you've ever wanted to try quilting but thought it would be too hard. (Okay, I can't really can't see you on the internet, but I'll bet there are some of you raising your hand.) I felt the very same way not too long ago. My mom started quilting when I was in high school, after she found a stack of unfinished blocks my great-grandmother started in the 1930s. I was impressed with the colors she chose and how easy it seemed to put together the quilt tops. I tried to teach myself, but to little success, until I took a basic quilting class and found out that once you know the basics, quilting is pretty easy.
In addition to learning more about what quilting is all about, we'll make a simple patchwork block to help get you started.
Project: Crochet Heart Scarf
By Alice Merlino
This romantic little scarf is the perfect accessory to tuck around your neck and keep the chill off while you wait for spring to arrive. Made with cuddly soft cotton-blend yarn, it's comfortable enough to wear all day. And if you are not one for squish sentimentality, you'll be happy to know they make this yarn in black, too. Either way, the lacy holes and motif-as-you-go construction makes this a project you can crochet in an afternoon.

Chiiiiing at Interglactic! Galactic! Glactic! used to have the same thread organizing system as I do: a basket full of toppled-over spools, many of which are buried and obscured at the bottom of the heap. And then she came up with this simple spool holder that requires only 4 ingredients: a wooden chopping block, dowels, strong glue, and spray paint. Now she can actually see what colors of thread she has. Nice!
