Vintage Holiday Toy Patterns @ doe-c-doe
doe-c-doe hit the crafty motherlode when recently (she's a thrift shop and estate sale addict), and unearthed a vintage issue of Woman's Day magazine featuring an ultra-inspiring holiday layout. She's done us all a big favor and uploaded the patterns as PDFs in case you want to try stitching up any of these fun creatures for yourself. (I'm totally making the giraffe!)
UPDATE: Looks like doe-c-doe removed the PDF because the content might be copyrighted, we've emailed Woman's Day and asked if they'd be interested in letting CRAFT post some patterns from the 60's - we'll let you know if it happens!

Craftster sprocketfish created this crocheted Dark Mantle which is apparently some sort of cave squid from Dungeons and Dragons. The best part, it's a hat. via Geek Crafts.

Book Review: The Woollyhoodwinks vs. The Dark Patch
The Woollyhoodwinks vs. The Dark Patch by Jeff Root, Scott Runcorn, Phil Dumesnil and Asa Sanchez
$15.95, Buy the Book
The Woollyhoodwinks plush toys come to life and share a new adventure in the new children's book, The Woollyhoodwinks vs. The Dark Patch. San Francisco artist Jeff Root created the plush dolls where each one is made from old wool suits from thrift stores. There are five characters, each with their own distinct personality. (You can buy the dolls in the Wollyhoodwinks shop.) Each scene in the book is beautifully photographed mixed in with drawings and stitched scenery. The jist of the story is about how the Woollyhoodwinks carefree existence is interrupted when a piece of the sky falls to the earth, becoming the infamous dark patch. But, cute story aside, you'll want to get this adorable book for all it's crafty inspiration!
