Princess Bride Wine From Alamo Drafthouse

The latest venture from Alamo Drafthouse, the popular quirky dine-and-watch movie theaters based in my old stomping grounds of Austin, makes me happy on a number of levels. It's wine (hurrah!), it's cleverly packaged (nice!) and it's based on one of my all time favorite movies, The Princess Bride.

Alamo Drafthouse is delighted to announce the launch of a signature wine inspired by THE PRINCESS BRIDE in honor of the 25th anniversary of the film. The name of this signature wine program, "The Bottle Of Wits," is derived from the iconic "battle of wits" scene when Westley first rescues Princess Buttercup from Vizzini and his henchmen. The "Bottle Of Wits" wine line will include two varietals: "Inconceivable Cab" and "As You Wish White". The "Bottle Of Wits" will be available for purchase at all Alamo Drafthouse locations starting on Tuesday, February 14th and will be available for purchase online soon.

I'm a little sidelined by the realization that the movie is celebrating its 25th anniversary. I remember eating Sno-Caps and watching it on one of my first going-to-the-movies-sans-parents adventures like it was yesterday. I love seeing that one of my favorite Austin establishments is celebrating the film in this way, and can't wait to get a few bottles for myself. Aside from the tasty beverage, the bottles and boxes are display-worthy for any true Princess Bride fan. Now ... how about we start a massive Princess Bride quote-a-thon? I'll start: "You just wiggled your finger! That's wonderful!" Now ... GO!

Tyrone, you know how much I love watching you work, but I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped
