Fabric-by-Fabric One Yard Wonders

Storey Publishing

As far as project publications go, Fabric-by-Fabric is an amazing book! First of all, it does not skimp, with 416 pages and 101 projects, as well as a stuffed envelope full of paper patterns. The pages are thick and glossy with wonderful photographs and illustrations for every step-by-step project. But beyond aesthetics, the projects in this book, contributed by dozens of designers from all over North America, are super fun and use only one yard of fabric (but of course!).

Fabric_umbrella-(1).jpg

With wide-ranging projects such as a retro airline bag, party lamp shade, chef's hat and apron, fabric kite, monster backpack, dining chair slipcover, all kinds of cute girl's sundresses, and so much more, it's difficult to choose where to begin. But we've made that easy for you with this excerpted Umbrella Redo (PDF below), a perfect project to make before winter truly begins.

Posted by: Skye Elizabeth on December 21, 2011 at 12:34 PM

I'm already excited! I love buying fabric remnants but full patterns need more that one yard. This is perfect for remnants! I just hope it gives info on where to buy umbrella accessories - can customers buy an umbrella without the fabric, or do we re-use the metal parts of an old one? Thanks!
