DIY Bedroom Make-Over

My husband and I took our bedroom in our Brooklyn apartment and transformed it from an unfinished room into an urban oasis. In this first of three DIY Bedroom videos, we show you how to paint a room, lay down Ikea click-together floor, and add trim to a baseboard. Check out the complete step-by-step tutorial over on Make: Projects.

Orb 5 and Orb 3 are the perfect art for the room. Stay tuned for our next installation where I make an upholstered headboard!

Important tip: if you install the click parquet, make sure to *not* install them layer by layer with the same length. That way, you'll have a very unstable seam at each end of the layer (as it was done in the video). A much better and stable way is to cut half the pieces needed for one layer in half, so that the seam of each piece overlaps around 50% with the previous and next piece. This will take longer to install, but will increase the stability a lot and make your parquet a lot more durable.

Another tip: If you don't like noise, make sure to put one layer of noise reduction below the parquet. Your neighbors below will thank you.
