How-To: Swaddling Blankets

swaddling_blankets.jpg

When both of our kids were newborns, one of our biggest can't-live-without items was a great swaddling blanket. Nurses in the NICU taught me how to tightly swaddle my daughter into a wee baby burrito (our name for it) and I was always amazed at how quickly it calmed her down and helped her drift easily to sleep. By the time our son came along, I was the fastest swaddler in the West, and could perform the perfect swaddle in my sleep. Since then, swaddling blankets have been at the top of my list as gifts for new parents. How silly is it, though, that I haven't been making them all along? Now that Molly from the Purl Bee has this updated swaddling blanket pattern and tutorial, I think I'm going to have to make a batch to have on had for baby gifts!
