How-To: Make Paper Snowflakes

instructablespapersnowflakes.jpg

Instructables has so many great holiday projects, including all types of gifts and decorations. Becky Stern sent me the link to this great tutorial, showing how to take the classic paper snowflake to a whole 'nother level. Dude, the seahorse one is blowing my mind!!! And I love that CYNICALfornia also created a flickr group for photos of snowflakes made by readers who have followed the tutorial. It's so true that no two are alike.

Um, every single one of these "snowflakes" has 8-fold symmetry. Snowflakes have 6-fold symmetry.

I adore making paper snowflakes in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Unfortunately, this year has been so busy, I've barely have my tree up let alone getting to make snowflakes. Maybe this weekend. I do some pretty intricate designs, but the sea horse snowflake is blowing me away - brilliant!
