Shh! I have a secret. I'm completely obsessed with the Twilight series. I first heard about the books from Kim Werker. Then, it was around this time last year when I got a hold of the first Twilight book from a fellow crafter Nancy Flynn of Belle Epoque. I was weeks from giving birth and on maternity leave so I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try. A week later, I was on the third novel in the series. The movie premiered on the day I gave birth to Chloe so I never got to see it until it came out months later on DVD. Yes, I admit have a crush on vampire Edward Cullen (not Robert Pattinson the actor, mind you) and the fog laden, damp locale of Forks, Washington is a perfect backdrop for showcasing knits. Because dear crafters, I know we have a lot in common. I see Twilight pop up in your Facebook feeds, in your Good Reads lists, and yes, it's a topic of conversation among us on Twitter, no?

Enter in my one of my many email conversations with Vickie Howell, a knitting/crochet queen and fellow movie buff. In September for our "Cozy Up to Yarn" month, she had a brilliant idea to tie in her Movie Monday post with a knitting pattern for Alice Wrist Warmers. (Alice Cullen is also a teen vampire and Edward's sister.) With the movie premiere happening this Friday, we thought it would be fun to do an "Along" tying in our favorite thing -- knitting and a movie.
To celebrate the premiere of New Moon we are presenting the Knifty Knitter Loom-Along (LAL) with Vickie Howell! Vickie will be showing you how to create her Alice Wrist Warmers inspired by the movie using a Knifty Knitter Flower Loom Kit. You'll probably be able to find this at your local Jo-Ann's or craft store. It's an easy way to knit if you don't know how or a fun thing to try out even if you do know how. I'll be joining in on the fun as a new loom knitter.
Materials
100 yds chunky or 200 yds worsted (double stranded) wool or acrylic yarn
Knifty Knitter Flower Loom Kit includes hook and tapestry needle

When I try and go backwards to make the thumbhole the yarn gets really tight on me and won't pull right-what am I doing wrong?

I made a pair of these great wrist warmers after I saw New Moon at mid-night opening night. It was fun and everyone who sees them wants me to make them a pair for Christmas. My daughter who just turned 11 bought all different sizes of looms with her birthday money so she can make cool stuff too. We are so excited. You got us hooked!

Here in Italy I can't find Knifty Knitter Looms. I could buy it from a US site online but postage takes soooo long and...I didn't want to miss the Loom-Along!
So, here is my handmade loom.
Fretsaw, glue, drill, wood, dremel tool...patience, time...and a little help from DH.
I was not so sure about the size...I tried to build the "small loom" (or what I argue to be the small loom size) as I would like to use it later for a newborn hat, too.
My baby is due in January and it is so cold in North of Italy...I loved the idea of my hand holding the little head, both wrapped in the same cozy wool!
Working on this project, I became addicted and I'm wondering about a cowl and a hat for me too!
Few changes to the pattern: I wanted it to have a button so I worked it in rows from the hole to the end, making a 4 stiches increase to overlap it on the back of the hand. Then I make a nice crocheted edging.
Sorry about my bad English, I think I've made some mistakes (verbs?), it was harder to write this than kintting the pair! And it was totally the first time for me (with the loom, not the writing ^_^)!

I just watched Twilight this weekend and now I'm hooked. I must get the books to read the whole story now. :) I made up two pair of armwarmers, one whilst I was watching Twilight. Now to convince the hubby to go see New Moon...

Well, I just watched Twilight this weekend on DVD and now I'm addicted. I need to get the books now. :) I loomed up a pair of armwarmers and they are in the Flickr group. I wore them around the house last night and they kept me nice and warm. Thanks for the project!

I'm not a fan (I thought the movie was cheesy/angsty, haven't read the books) but I think the armwarmers are cute, and I've been wondering what could be made with those little looms! I've made a few things with the larger looms, both the round and the long looms.

I've made one hand warmer, am about to start the second one, and have posted pics to the Flickr group. It's a great quick gift project, but I'm confused. The photo with the book shows different hand warmers than the ones in the pattern (the book ones have ribbing, seed stitch, or similar at each end).
