3-Armed Baby Costume

CRAFT friends and Instructables folks Eric and Christy dressed their baby girl, Corvidae, as a 3-armed baby for Halloween. They posted up a tutorial for the costume, made from two identical baby outfits and a doll arm.

While we wanted to be subtle, this was almost too subtle - she wore the costume all day, and hardly anyone noticed! But when they finally detected a problem, the responses were excellent.

Whatever

I agree w/ Monica, please find a real cause. While I probably would not dress my baby in this, I can't really find harm in it.

How dare you think this child's costume is cute or even funny. Cause it's NOT! It's out right making fun of children with birth defects! I'm all up in arms about this!

Up in arms!

Up in arms! Ha! That is a good one! It seems we are all up in arms! Hahahaha. Way to run with it.

Go find a real cause and hop on that bandwagon.

I find this very offensive and have to question not only the parents for creating this costume and putting it on their baby, but also the posting of it here as if it is a valid "craft" idea. Yes, there were a lot of "crafty" steps in creating the costume- but the fact that it was offensive and in poor taste should have kept it from being posted. Have some sensitivity! There are doubtless hundreds of amazingly creative costumes out there that would have been BOTH acceptable & informative. FYI: I am a home care nurse who has cared for many children with disabilities over the years, and as wonderful and open as their parents are -I know that this costume would have been a stab in the heart to any one of them.

yuk

i am pretty easy going and very hard to offend, but anyone out there with a child that has a birth defect involving arms or legs would probably find this totally tasteless. i am lucky to have a perfectly healthy child, as well as a healthy sense of humor, but this costume makes me cringe. really not terribly clever, either. fail.

this has got to be the same loons who dressed their poor child in a pumpkin shell! can we please return to showing 'craft' on this site?

This is 100% a craft project. It involves repurposing, sewing, happy babies, and Halloween, four of our favorite things here at CRAFT.
