Believe me, you have no idea how excited I was to receive Amy Karol's second book, Bend the Rules with Fabric. Amy shows you how to personalize your fabric with stencils, stamps, dye, photo transfers, silk screening, and more. There are a great variety of projects for all different levels, including 9 no-sew projects for those that have yet to take the leap. A few of my favorites (pictured below) are the Painted Toile, the Lunch Bag where you print your own fabric, and the Aunt Sarah and Uncle Pete Dolls (how hilarious and fun!). Templates and patterns for the project are in the back of the book. In addition to projects, Amy also goes in depth on techniques. I love these as they are peppered in between projects. They are things that I've always wanted to try out such as printing images on fabric sheets, using Bubble Jet Set to make your own, or screen printing with Photoez, just to name a few. Amy includes a short bullet-list of benefits as well as drawbacks to each technique, so you can keep them in mind as you test them out. I could honestly stare at the pretty project photos all day. This is definitely a book for your craft collection!

I love finding great new things to make with the often large scraps of fabric I accumulate at work where I make draperies professionally. This book looks perfect for that!

Golly! There are so many reasons why this book would be a perfect fit with me....
- I am poor. Yes, folks, I fall under that $16,000 a year bracket EASY!
- I follow Amy quite closely and love so much of what she does: her blog, her sweet photos and patterns and I managed to get her first book which I have used many, many times. I tried to get this book in a contest she had on her blog, but... so close, yet so far.
- I am a bit of a hoarder. My father came out of the depression and taught me all he knows. But this can be good because I know how to stretch a dollar and how to make my own gifts.
- The holidays and birthdays fill the next four months for me. I am really hoping to do almost all homemade gifts with little or no supply shopping. This book would help me to use the supplies I already have to make my friends and family happy.

I cant afford to buy this book right now and I will go mad if I don't have it, the projects seem amazing, I cant keep my hands still, I'm always ready to learn new techniques and make new things, plus the gift labels will come in handy seeing how I'm always making gifts for friends and family just because I don't have room to keep all the things I make. I taught myself how to sew when I was a little kid, with starter help from my mom. That moment when you figure out a technique on your own is such an amazing feeling! I love to see how other people work, and this book looks like a very interesting one :)

I've been reading Amy's blog for over a year now. She is such an inspiration, and she has such a way with words that makes me want to try so many new things (like making my own yogurt or butter or mayonnaise!). The way she explains how to do her projects just clicks with me, where other books, how-to's or tutorials have failed. I've always wanted to silk screen or use stencils, but I've never had the guts to try. I'd love to have Amy's book to help me take that first step. Amy helped me take my first step with sewing, so it'd be great to have her there for embarking on any new crafting endeavors I have in the future too!

Because I'm a stickler for rules and need some serious guidance on crafting outside the box.
I was recently at a book store and saw this book on the shelf, so I started to look at it. Unfortunately there was a guy next to me who I guess didn't want me in the same aisle as him. He started coughing loudly (not covering his mouth) and making all sorts of loud, gross, phlegm noises. Needless to say I put this book down and quickly left the aisle, defeated by the phlegm guy!! What I did get to see of the book I really liked though and would like the chance to read it without any more rude interruptions!!!
Holy Cow! Since I adore Amy Karol, I would LOVE to recieve anything from her. I discovered the Angry Chicken while searching for embroidery and sewing sites. I really like the way she presents information so informally and easiliy. It makes me want to sew more. And her video tutorials help ALOT!!!! So, yes, please, I would like a copy of her Bend the Rules with Fabric book.

I was recently given my first sewing machine as a super early Christmas present from my parents and don't want to to the usual sewing projects that everyone starts off with, so this book would be perfect to try it out with (even if they're hand-sewing projects!!). My parents would definitely appreciate some cool gifts too and deserve them after such an awesome gift (and 23 years of me, haha!).

This book has such great variety. It's great to be able to make things to go all around your house, especially when you live in a small space and don't have alot of time.

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Amy's new book! I would love to have it! She is so full of great ideas and inspiration. I am especially interested in printing images on fabric sheets as I have been wanting to make something for my grandmother using a photo of her and my grandfather when they were first married. I'd love to have this book because i've never been one who likes to follow the rules. I like to think outside the box and come up with things that are totally different. I have a Girl Scout troop and I'd love to be able to share this info with them so that sewing could be seen as "cool".

this book is so amazing i want to have it because i will have lots of free time in oct and a new home i want to utilize ideas in this book for my home decor. I love using fabric in home decors because its washable and i can always keep things very tidy

I love Amy Karol! I follow her blog and have wanted her books ever since I saw them. Last year I taught myself to sew enough to make sock creatures, but now I have made my first ever cushion cover, I'm ready to dive into the world of textiles! The didn't teach textiles at my school, which I was gutted about because I always think it would have been my favourite subject. This book would make my year!
I'm so excited that Amy has a new book out! I loved her last one so much, I was slightly obsessed with it for a while and made almost all the projects. I've just had to give up my job as we are moving halfway across the country to start a brand new life away from the city, and until I get a new job there's no money for books or other nice things, so I'd be overjoyed to win a copy :)

I once bought a couch off of a former roommate and spent an entire summer reupholstering it. The old ladies at the fabric store gave me grave, fearful looks, but I showed them! I can get crazy with fabric!
My son's first birthday is coming up. I would LOVE to make him a set of stuffed dolls with the faces of all his aunties and uncles on them. Eeek! I definitely need that book. I'm trying to get better at sewing etc but I'm coming at it from the wrong end - my mum taught me enough that I know the basics, but I don't know enough to not be intimidated by commercial patterns.
Plus, I find the best way to learn the rules from behind them, anyway! :)

I would love to win this book because I absolutely adore Amy's first book and cannot wait to be inspired and get crafty again. Her Bend the Rules book helped me get over my fear of messing things up when using the sewing machine, a fear that kept me from sewing anything but straight(ish) lines....and even that rarely happened. Now I looooove to sew on the sewing machine and make clothes and presents galore!!!!

I have Bipolar disorder and severe anxiety disorder. Whenever I am stressed, anxious, feel depressed or feel overwhelmed and on the verge of a mania I craft. Nothing makes me feel better than being able to focus on creating something and enjoying the pride that comes with making something I can hold in my hands. I would love to have this book. There's already a spot in my alphabetically arranged by author book shelf for it (did I mention I also have OCD?).

Every year I theme my Christmas gifts for my friends and family - last year it was books (was heading overseas so didn't have time to make), the year before it was bags (all handmade). This year I think the theme will be "prints"

It would be wonderful to win this book. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to win something online, usually scholarships, thinking "Well, somebody has to win, why not me?" Of course, it never has been.

The year Bend the Rules came out, so many people on my gift list received a copy whether they knew how to sew or not. This book will be right there in the permanent craft library!

Hi there! I just moved to Savannah, GA on Thursday for my masters degree at SCAD in graphic design! I'm super excited, but also pretty nervous about the whole new city/new school thing! I just started sewing back in April and have fallen . in . love. Ive started making Fleece Genki Hats, and really would love to learn to sew more challenging things.
I also love cosplay, and love the challenge of sewing and creating my own costumes. The screen printing and dying in this book would help me out wonders with those few tasks that just keep eluding me.
In this economy, this book would also help me expand the items I can make and sell to people who might not otherwise have access to things like I make, helping both them and me out. As well as the fabric printing it offers! Perfect for figuring out how to make those DIY fabric tags for my items that I just cant seem to get down.
My sister is also a teacher of young children, and this book would offer tons of ideas for her classes, not to mention giving me the ability to come up with more clothing ideas for both her toddler, and my older sisters toddler.

Why do I need this book? Because I teach high school English in the inner city of Brooklyn, NY, and, after a long day of trying to help my kids read and write better, I love to come home and lose myself in the world of crafts for a few minutes. This book looks like the perfect way to do so. Plus, when I make something from it, I can take it to school, and the kids are always really intrigued by the concept of making something. Maybe they'll start to make stuff too!
