Cat Food Wrapper Pet Collar

Make your eco-pet proud with this collar made out of recycled materials. By turning food wrappers and bedding pouches into neck decor, you'll find that feline fashion is in the bag!
Materials
Pet food bag
Poly bag sheets or pillowcase packaging
2 snaps
Sewing machine
Thread
D-ring
Scissors
Directions
Step 1: Measure.
Wrangle your pet and measure his or her neck. Add 4" to that measurement.
Step 2: Cut.
Tear apart the poly bag so that it's a flat piece. Do the same for the pet food bag. Cut strips out of both pieces that are 2" x whatever measurement you got above. Lay the food wrapper strip face down on the plastic strip, then fold in half so that the wrapper is sandwiched between the plastic with the pretty side facing out.
Step 3: Sew.
Top-stitch the piece closed. Trim, if necessary.
Step 4: Snap.
Place the strip around your pet's neck to figure out the snap placement. Following the manufacturer's instructions, install the snap. If you'd like the collar to be adjustable, add another snap or 2.

Yeah, I can't really get behind a collar for cats that isn't break-away. Indoor, outdoor: as long as a cat has legs it's going to eventually get into trouble.
I'd also like to second Kris. Cats are carnivores, through and through. What's healthy for people ≠ healthy for animals.

We use the bags that our dog food comes in as chair covers and as a floor mat for my kids when they want to "picnic" iin the living room. I buy the dog food that comes in like canvas/plasticy material not the brown paper lining.

But it is probably not appropriate for more active cats as it probably will not breakaway if it gets snagged, especially with multiple snaps.
Still very cute and probably fab for small dogs! Great technique for reusing wrapper/plastic cases that could be used a lot of other places.

Especially for an outdoor cat, it is extremely important to have a safety release collar. They can accidentally get stuck on things like tree branches or bushes and strangle themselves if there isn't a safety release. I love the idea and might try it in some other way.

It's a cute collar but cats are obligate carnivores. Stop feeding the poor thing crap like oatmeal, rice, carrots and cranberries. These ingredients can cause lots of health problems including heart issues and diabetes. I wish someone had told me that before my cat required insulin injections twice a day. Eco friendly is great, taking good care of the animal you're responsible for is way more important.
