Portland, Oregon always has something cool and crafty going on, but this weekend has been a particularly spectacular craft community event-a-thon. Last night, Handmade Nation screened to its first of four sold out crowds and kicked off a series of craft events planned for the weekend. Last night's screening at the Museum of Contemporary Craft included special swag bags for guests, and several artists featured in the film were on hand. The rest of the weekend's events include a crochet-a-thon with Mandy Greer and Crafty Wonderland tomorrow. All screenings for the show are sold out, but the panel discussion this afternoon at 2:00 PM and the Crochet-a-thon are free and open to the public.

Crochet-a-thon with Mandy Greer
Saturday, April 4, 4-6 pm Free and open to the public
Artist Mandy Greer, featured in Handmade Nation, will show participants how to crochet, and will then make a sculpture out of the raw materials created that day. Participants are asked to bring yarn and fabric, new or reused, in all shades of blue, from very light to dark (excluding navy!).
