AlterKnits Felt by Leigh Radford (Stewart, Tabori & Chang)
Buy the Book ($24.95)

As the season grows colder, this is the perfect book to snuggle up with. AlterKnits Felt features 30 beautiful projects made from fuzzy felted knits. You'll learn to knit and then felt your projects, or how to felt pre-existing knits to use as raw materials for a wide variety of goodies. The key idea here is variety. I love that the book offers patterns for everything from jewelry (like the I-Cord Wrap Bracelet and Rings) and accessories (such as the Full Circle Purse) to cozy items for the home--the Reverse Appliqué rug is a notable standout. The skill range involved is nicely varied as well, making AlterKnits Felt a safe bet for crafters at any level who are looking to experiment with texture and color.

One lucky Craftzine readers will win a copy AlterKnits Felt! Just leave a comment on this post by 12pm PST on Thurday, November 27 telling us why you need this book. Please make sure your e-mail address is included in your profile so we can contact you if you win.

That rug is gorgeous

I need this book! I've been working with felt for a couple of years, but have been feeling uninspired lately. These projects look elegant and charming.

I need this book because I always have so many partial balls of feltable yarn -- and it looks like there are lots of great projects for using up those yarn leftovers!

I need this book because I love every project in it, can't wait to make some and don't have any money right now to purchase it! Isn't that the case for many of us?

Why do I need, need this book?

I'm embarrassed to admit this but since you asked: I have never successfully felted a project -- and I've been doing fiber arts for about 2 decades now!

mmmm, fellllllt...

I so very muchly need to own this book. Not only is my apartment floor sad, bare and in desperate need of that reverse applique rug, but now that my partner and I live together, our combined stashes are starting to eat all the available space. Help us solve all our problems by making adorable felted things!

It's nice to see felt finally recognized as an interesting medium in itself, not just something for grade-school projects.
