Sorry son, Ziggy Stardust was in fact Bowie's persona (fronting the Spiders from Mars no less) for the Aladdin Sane album- it wasn't until after this record, on its grueling world tour, that Bowie made announced that the Spiders from Mars were no more. See D.A. Pennebacker's film ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS to witness the surprise decision at the final show- and the ensuing audience reaction.

That's Aladdin Sane Bowie, not Ziggy Stardust Bowie.
