Buy Fashioning Technology by Syuzi Pakhchyan in the Maker Shed today!
This book demonstrates how to blend sewing and assembly techniques with traditional electronics to assemble simple circuits using conductive thread, solder joints for snaps, and switches for buttons. With the sewing machine as a viable substitute for the soldering iron, you can craft a new generation of objects that are interactive, quirky, and fashion-conscious.
Look for Fashioning Technology Kits soon this Summer in the Maker Shed! For now, check out the rest of our CRAFT Kits.

Reusable Produce Bags
I'm really digging these reusable fabric produce bags by SoManyIdeas, which are handpainted with botanical motifs, sugar skulls, and more. I've been looking for a way to avoid using plastic produce bags from the grocery store, and these may be just the ticket.

Confetti Cushion
Craftster user Annabel used scraps of fabric from old sewing projects to decorate the front of a pillow, giving it the look of scattered confetti. I love the playful and sketchy way she sewed the patches on using visible stitches.

Yarn Smackdown Competition

Helen writes:
I organize Yarn Smackdown, a knitting- and crocheting-to-the-death competition with 12 events. It is themed around lace and the Olympics. The 12 events are beginner sock, advanced sock, bookmark, dishcloth, knitted animal, scarf, knitted stole, crochet stole, amigurumi, crochet hat, granny square, and the food fight event.
Sign-ups are open until midnight on July 31st and the competition begins on August 8th. There is no fee for competing. Knitters and crocheters can sign up at the website. The knitter or crocheter with the most points wins.
That's right, the deadline for signups is Thursday. Get 'em in and start competing, folks!
