HOW TO - Make an Egg Cozy

owl cosy
Lucy from LucyKate Crafts created a tutorial for making this cute owl egg cozy. The only thing is, I have never heard of an egg cozy. What do you guys think? Do your eggs need to be kept cozy?

An English breakfast

I've been brought up with egg cozies, but maybe this is a purely English thing to do.

I love "egg and dippy" breakfasts as a weekend treat.
You soft boil 2 eggs, and toast 2 slices of bread. You cut each slice of buttered toast into 4 or 5 strips (soldiers) to dip in the egg.

The cozy is needed to keep your 2nd egg warm while you eat the first one. Plus of course, they look great on the breakfast table!

Toast Soldier

A toast soldier cozy sounds good. What is a toast soldier?

Plus they give you time to cut up your toast soldiers without your egg getting cold. Now, if only there were a toast soldier cosy to stop them going cold before you dipped them into your egg...

The egg cozy is a leftover from the days when some one brought the soft boiled egg to the table in a nice egg cup and then called you in for breakfast or tea....Nothing worse than a cold soft boiled egg. So I have not seen egg cups or egg cozy(s) since I lived in England many moons ago. I don't think there is much call for them anymore, at least not with microwavable breakfast burritos.
