CRAFT: 07 The Shoe Issue - On Newsstands Now!

Craft Promo Vol7
CRAFT: 07 is on newsstands now! We celebrates spring in high style, devoting our theme section to shoes! And can we talk here, who doesn't like shoes? Now you can crafty your own by learning two ways to mod Converse Hightops: knit one pair and swap the fabric on another. Fashion a pair of ribbon-tie sandals, open source shoes and build your own rollerskates. Plus, learn how to batik fabric, découpage a map on a coffee table, reupholster a chair, and build a set of portable speakers. See the full table of contents online. (And yes, that's me on the cover with our CRAFT mascot, my little pomeranian Lulu.)

Already read it cover to cover and there are some other good things in there, so I'm not trying to bash the issue. However, for a $14+ newstand price I expect fresh ideas all the way through. Sure, there may be some readers of your magazine that don't go to the blog, but it such a niche publication that I venture to guess that a great percentage of your loyal readers are also visitors to the blog. One thing you could have done to improve this particular article is utilizing different yarn or a slightly different pattern on the shoes so it wasnt exactly what was on the blog -- then you could have shown a photo of what was on the blog and directed magazine readers to that page as an incentive to get the second pattern. I'm just commenting because I am a big fan of the magazine and want to see it continue to present fresh ideas.

True, but for $14+ newstand price I expect something that isn't repurposed...

Sure that project's been here on the blog before but there are a ton of other new projects in the issue as you can see in the other photos above. Especially check out the"Old Sole, New Shoes" project showing you how to make sandals.

Great concept for an issue, but I feel cheated -- the pattern for the cover shoes have been available through this blog forever. I turn to you guys for something fresh & new...
