Chair Upholstery

Samschair
Our own CRAFT and MAKE photo editor, Sam Murphy, just finished up her Saturday sessions of upholstery class where she took an old chair (photo below) and turned it into a beautifully re-upholstered chair with a modern flower print fabric.

Sam writes what she's learned:

The thing I found most interesting is the process. There is a lot of doing and then undoing, then redoing again and again. It is not exact like wood-working, where if you measured properly, it will fit together. You must to be very patient and not under any time constraints.

Hi, thanks so much for sharing the information here. I was also searching such contents since a long time and at last I found them here. Keep it up.

Ooh I absolutely love the fabric Sam chose for her reupholstered chair. I just reupholstered a beautiful old chair I picked up on Craigslist for $25. Every single person that comes over thinks I paid hundreds if not thousands for the chair at some high-end furniture store. It's really amazing what you can do with a little effort! I got my fabric online at Fabric.com and my upholstery stapler at http://upholsterystapler.net.

Quite a lot of people don't realize you can reupholster your own chair! It's fairly easy to using your magazine as a guide. You can also get a upholstery stapler at http://www.upholstery-stapler.com
