Occult Military Patches

The New York Times has an article up about Trevor Paglen's book I Could Tell You but Then You Would Have to Be Destroyed by Me: Emblems from the Pentagon's Black World, which highlights the patches worn on the uniforms of "secret military units [and] classified Pentagon programs." I'd love to work at that embroidery shop! Via Core77.

If you do a search on cafepress for "squadron" or "regiment," you can find a lot of organizational patches from the US Military. Bizarre doesn't even begin to explain most of them.

Doesn't walking around with a patch proclaiming yo to be in a "sekrit" squadron defeat the whole purpose?
