Plush AK-47

SANY0012.JPG

At the First Friday art walk in Phoenix last night, I came across some lovely work by Mindy Sue Myers. She made this plush AK-47 with all sorts of flowered fabric. I'll find out more information about her soon, she's a fiber arts student at Arizona State University. - Link.

Update: The piece is called Machine Peace Gun, and is part of the exhibit "Significant Others" at the Eye Lounge in Phoenix and will be up for at least another two weeks.

The AK-47 is one of the most successful industrialized products ever. Obviously making it with fabric says something about the world we live in that might not be too far of from what glassgirl thinks she/he wants to be about. Wake up. Maybe you should shoot a gun. Creation and destruction are quite related.

How about a plush car?

Cars kill lots of folks. Cars pollute. Car companies exploit destitute nations.

Now that would be BAD. Glassgirl, you are a fool.

But not this Mindy Sue. Yes, guns are bad, just like hammers are bad and morphine is bad. Oh no, wait, that's not true, they are each inanimate tools that can be put to evil uses by BAD PEOPLE. How can a thing in and of itself be bad?

Also, see how it's made of all flowery fabrics? Perhaps glassgirl needs an irony supplement. I think this plush is clever and cute. I want one.
