Trombone Cozy
Lenore at Evil Mad Scientist writes:
This trombone cozy was necessitated by a skin allergy to certain metals. It is a rectangle of soft cotton material with velcro sewn on so that it wraps snugly around the portion of the horn that comes in contact with the trombonist's neck. Problem solved-- no more neck irritation makes for a much happier band member.Allergic to your instrument? Trombone cozy - Link.

I have very similar skin allergies to the trombone player, and my hands are much tougher than the rest of my skin, whereas my neck is just about the most sensitive area. So in this case, there was no need for protection on any other part of the instrument.

@ Steven:
He *is* left handed. No need to be cruel.

The photo could be a mirror image or a left handed player.
Neckguards have been around for a while see http://www.hickeys.com/cgi/display.cgi?cart_id=&page=tnguard.htm however I like this idea as it prevents corrosion from the oils in your skin taking off the lacquer of the instrument. I have seen covers for the slide but they never extent to the mouthpiece joint (In the photo above where the index finger is holding the slide/mouthpiece. Could this be done?

another thing if you have skin allergies, wouldnt your hands and face break out because they come in contact with the metal also, or do you have an full cozy suit for your trombone.

I play trombone, and you dont play with it on that side, the bell part goes on the left side of your head. Not impressed
