The DIY Wedding by Kelly Bare - Book Giveaway!

Diywedding
Let's face it, it's not easy to plan your own wedding - somehow I lived through this in the fall of 2006 in the midst of all my other girlfriends getting married each month, and of course, CRAFT magazine launching on the newsstands. If only I had this book, The DIY Wedding: Celebrate Your Day Your Way by Kelly Bare, I would have saved myself from so much headache through wasted months that now I consider a huge learning process. Trust me, time is precious when you are planning a wedding (weeks, especiall months) so you'll be able to use this book like a true guidebook. You'll get great advice on how to save money on all those things that cost so darn much -- from flowers, invitations, favors, decor, food, and more. I also love the crafty projects Kelly brings into the book in each chapter so you can really bring your own touch to your wedding from making jewelry for your bridesmaids to creating your own table centerpieces. Plus each chapter is chock full of tips from budgeting to organizing, as well as advice on how to deal or chose vendors. I was really honored to be asked to write the forward to this book and I know if you are a crafty DIY'er like me, you'll love reading every page of this book! For more info on The DIY Wedding, visit Chronicle Books to find out more. Link.

As a special treat we are giving away 2 copies of The DIY Wedding to our Craftzine readers, our "DIY Brides to Be"! Just leave a comment here to this post today through tomorrow Wednesday, November 21 by Noon (PST). We'll pick 2 random winners and will announce them at the end of the day on Wednesday!

Hi! My name is Lauren and my boyfriend and I have just decided to get married! I consider myself to be crafty and I would love to win a book to help me with wedding planning (especially one that will help to save money and make my wedding unique!). Thanks!

Hello,
I got engaged earlier this year and we're on a super tight budget. In desperate need of some crafty inspiration and hopefully some money saving tips! Would love a book like this :)

My fiancé and I are in the midst of a very DIY wedding--we're locally sourcing all the produce, flowers, baked goods, game/meat, cheese, for the wedding, as well as planning band, reception area, etc., all from 2200 miles away! It's getting a bit hectic, especially since we'll have to fly back to Wisconsin a couple times to help grade the property and build a driveway to my family's land (for the ceremony). I would love a little DIY book help in this endeavor. Cheers!

I love DIY. My fiance and I are getting married next year. I have a few ideas already, but any bit helps. Love this website, and like others, check it several times a day. Thanks for the inspiration.

That looks like an awesome book! I always love looking around online for tutorials but instructions and tips in book form are always useful.

Posted by: rastaman5150 on November 20, 2007 at 1:13 PM

Oh, that looks great. If I don't win it, I'm going to buy it for a friend that's getting married in the summer.

I know my wedding is about 2 years in the future, but I'm already thinking about cool things I can do to save money and make it really personal! This book sounds super awesome. Yay!

I'm getting married in Portland in July and that book looks just like what I need. I'm pretty crafty and I've had my fill of books and magazines telling me I need to shell out big bucks for someone else to make monogrammed napkins or a cake topper that doesn't fit our style at all.

Count me in! :)

My live-in boyfriend of a year and a half claims he hasn't proposed because we can't "afford" a wedding planner, flower arranger, caterer, child-wrangler for friends.... This book would be a GREAT hint on our coffee table!

Posted by: Cathoo2 on November 20, 2007 at 3:31 PM

Her book "The F Word" (as in Fiancee) looks interesting too!

Posted by: Gunnr on November 20, 2007 at 3:52 PM

This book looks great. I cannot imagine leaving such an important day up to strangers when I know I can do a lot myself.

Posted by: Danelda on November 20, 2007 at 4:06 PM

I'm getting married at the end of August and am determined to have a ceremony and big party that encapsulates my fiancé and myself, and not the tradiational white/flowers/blah blah that wouldn't feel like "our" day. I'd love to get some more ideas on what we can do/make/create together to add the personal touches we want.

I need this book! I'm getting married in May, and the whole affair is very DIY. I need help!

I'm just starting the planning for a fall wedding next year and am thinking that the lovely crafties I'm envisioning probably need to start now. This book would be a great way to get my butt in gear. Thanks for cluing us into it! (Cluing? Clueing? hmmm...)

After going to many cookie-cutter weddings, i am obsessed with planning my own crafty, but special wedding. That book would be a real treat!

I would love to have this book. I foresee a wedding in my not so distant future and I want to diy as much as possible.

I'm getting married next fall and am having a crafty, DIY wedding .. this book would be perfect!

Posted by: armacy on November 21, 2007 at 5:30 AM

whoa! this reminds me of the pr stunt where a bunch of women in bridal gowns had to wrestle/run for free wedding stuff. (pick me! pick me!!)

Posted by: Amber_N. on November 21, 2007 at 5:48 AM

I'd love this book! Our date is 06/07/08 and we're doing a ton of DIY stuff for the wedding!

My fiance and I are getting married next summer, and are buying a house right now. We need to DIY as much as possible for both things on our teachers' salaries! I love CRAFT, and I'm getting into the whole crafting revolution in a serious way. Your website and zine have great project ideas, and the instructions are really intuitive and easy to understand. Thanks!

So glad to know a book like this exists! Although we're married in our hearts & minds, my boyfriend of almost 10 years (!) and I are only now thinking of braving the complexities of wedding planning... this should be a big help on the way to the kind of outside-the-box not off-the-shelf wedding we're hoping for!

Posted by: Jinxedtimes2 on November 21, 2007 at 11:01 AM

I'm getting married next summer and am doing quite a bit myself (with the help of some creative friends and family). This sounds like a great book to use.
