You might want to try grafting. I've never done it but there's a video here and you can modify the stitches according to you project.

Any help for seaming the wrong side of stockinette seamlessly? I'm working on the Blue Sky Alpacas pleated skirt, and while the top 3/4 is straight stockinette, the bottom bits are the reverse sockinette "pleats". I've got no idea how to go about it, and I've almost abandoned the WIP because I don't know how to finish it! Ack! Any suggestions?
