Craft: transforming traditional crafts

I'm a knitter, but my mom's a quilter. She used to make t-shirt quilts in the 90s on commission and I asked her to make one of the t-shirts my husband saved from his high school glory days of track and field and cross country. She appliques the logos onto each block. For my husband's quilt, she even quilted his initials and the years he ran in the middle of the quilt.
