Christy Petterson of getcrafty.com has a great recap on the recent Craft Congress that took place in Pittsburgh. Craft Congress was a special meeting from craft fair organizers to members of the indie craft community to discuss the future of the craft landscape. CRAFT was represented by our events director, Sherry Huss.
Christy writes:
One of the themes that came out of the weekend is what we can accomplish when we really ban together as a community. Perhaps someday we can buy health insurance as a group making self-employment much more viable. Maybe we can have an influence on copyright law or create more buying power by making large purchases of things we all need. We might even be able to convince manufacturers to use more green practices because we will only purchase items made greenly.
