My cats love to rub their declawed paws all over the unmodified bags, so I just lightly stuff them as-is and use them into cat beds.
Try looking at Costco for that brand of rice (and of course the burlap bag that it comes in). Beware, it's a 20 pound bag. That's a lot of rice to dispose of!
